Council votes overwhelmingly to ask Queen’s Park to keep long gun registry data

May 10, 2012, Openfile. A notable win for Councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam (Ward 27, Toronto Centre-Rosedale) today at council, as a motion sponsored by her and Adam Vaughan (Ward 20, Trinity-Spadina) passed overwhelmingly despite needing a two-thirds margin to even get heard today (it would normally be punted to the Mayor’s Executive Committee). Wong-Tam’s motion called for the city to ask the Province of Ontario to do “everything in its power” to stop the deletion of Long Gun Registry data and join the lawsuit the government of Quebec has started to do the same.
