23 years ago, on December 6, 1989,14 women died in the Montreal Massacre

December 6, 2012. Their senseless deaths triggered the Canadian movement toward stronger gun control. In 1995, Canada passed the Firearms Act that required gun owners to obtain a renewable gun licence and register their guns one time. The law was recognized by the victims’ families as a monument to their memory but has been seriously weakened in 2012.
